T'was the Night Before Fall Practice
Beaver football season is here!

After a long wait, we're focusing all of our attention on the upcoming practices and the 2006
season.  We've got recruiting news, player news, predictions and even a Riley vs. Erickson
comparison.  Can Oregon State compete for the Pac 10 championship?  -- I think so!
Let's Cherish This Moment
OSU Beaver fans are so accustomed to seeing their team underachieve and break our hearts.  The
2006 Beaver baseball team is the ultimate exception.  They did nothing but overachieve and excel
at the highest level.  Today, we celebrate their efforts with some audio clips from OSU radio
annoucer Mike Parker and some discussion about the team and how this will hopefully carry over
to other sports like football.
It Is Never Too Early to Talk Beaver Football
Today, we talk with Dan Norz at Beaverfootball.com who provided us with some insight on
Spring practice, what's happening on the recruiting front and what's ahead for the Beavers in
August.  With a few days of down time before the Beavs head for Omaha and the College World
Series, let's talk some Beaver football!
Beavs Lay the Wood
It was a great weekend for the Beavs, with the baseball team clinching at least a share of the Pac 10
championship with a sweep of Wazzu and the Beaver softball team advancing to the Super
Regionals in the NCAA softball tournament.  The wins set up a great weekend of baseball and
softball this week; the baseball team hosts second place UCLA, looking to clinch sole possession
of the Pac 10 title, and the softball team hosts Cal, with the winner advancing to the College World
Series.

Also, the DC Beavs (National Capital Chapter of the OSU Alumni Association) took care of
business in the DC Civil War Softball game Saturday, crushing the hapless Ducks 13-7.  Beaver
players exchanged "High Fours" in celebration of the fourth consecutive win over the team from
Speugene.
Exorcising The Curse of Paris McCurdy
It's been 16 years since Paris McCurdy, star player for Ball State, broke the hearts of OSU Beaver
fans with his game winning shot in Round 1 of the 1990 NCAA Tournament.  Tonight, we say
goodbye to a curse.

What's the only thing good to ever come from Eugene?...Mike Riley's salary in comparison with the
rest of the Pac 10...Updates on the Men's basketball and baseball teams...Plus, the first nominee for

Hey Bobby D.,
3/5/06
Pick up the phone and schedule a real opponent!  D-IIA games are pathetic, and it's not like there
aren't teams to choose from!!  We haven't played a team from Colorado since Reagan was in office,
and we've never played a couple of decent teams in Colorado State and Air Force
.
Erickson vs. Riley and What To Do in Boise
2/26/06
Listen to today's podcast where we hear from an Idaho Vandal fan about Dennis Erickson's hiring,
Riley vs. Erickson I, and a former resident's advice about traveling to Boise in preparation of the
OSU Boise game in September.

Where Will OSU's First NCAA Championship Come From?
OSU has never had a team NCAA National Championship.  The Beavers have been close in many
sports, but just haven't gotten over the hump.  Today, we talk about which program offers the most
hope for winning a championship, and it's likely to be found on the softball or baseball fields.  Also,
please excuse today's date -- it's actually Monday, April 3rd, not April 4th.
OSU Institutions On The Ropes
Two Oregon State institutions are on the ropes, with a proposal to alter or eliminate the Beaver
cheerleading squad and the annual "Shasta" retreat being replaced by an alternative event in
Corvallis.

The cheerleading proposal has been bungled by the OSU athletic department, creating a minor
controversy, and I'm fearful that many donors and alums have lost confidence in the Department.
Student leaders who have put for the "Shasta Alternative" are to be commended, but it is still a sad
day to see this potentially fun and traditional event be eliminated largely because of a binge drinking
epidemic and/or our inability to make good decisions.

We talk about both in today's podcast.  I know I promised to talk Spring football, but there has
been ample coverage of the first week throughout the media and internet.
It's Quiet in Eugene...and Rock'n in Corvallis
The OSU Beaver baseball and softball teams have put together one of the best runs in OSU sports
history, having both made it to the College World Series and winning their respective conference
championships over the past two years.  Softball bowed out early last week in OK City, but
represented well, and the Beaver baseball team swept their regional tournament and now face a hot
Stanford team in Corvallis this weekend.  Track and field is over down the road, so the whole state
will be focusing on Corvallis Super Regional this weekend.  We talk about it all in today's podcast.
